First ASOIAF Tournaments at GenCon

Gen-Con-2018-Logo

Although I will keep up with unit descriptions, card changes and the like on this Site, I suspect that I will quickly fall behind in those areas to those that are more capable (and interested) in those aspects of the game.  My passion, and by extension this site’s purpose, is to follow the competitive scene for the game.

My goal is to be the best resource for the competitive tournament scene.  That is why I am especially excited that GenCon 2018 will have 3 Official Tournaments for the ASOIAF miniature game.  I have updated the Tournaments section of the site so that you can see the general look and feel of how it will be organized.  The goal will be to post the tournament, the players, lists, prizes and links to any battle reports for every major sanctioned tournament.

Registration is still open for ALL 3 TOURNAMENTS, but the Beginner ones are almost full, so go go go!

This is just a first step, so if you have any thoughts or comments, feel free to post in the forum or otherwise let me know.  The ASOIAFMG Facebook Page is an excellent way to get a hold of me or to otherwise talk with folks that will be at the tournament!

Site Updated as of Update 92

As of today, all of the Strategy Pages (the cards and stats) have been updated with everything we know so far from CMON (as of the last Update #92).  If you see any mistakes, please let me know by posting a comment.  Enjoy!

Adepitcon 2018 Spoilers!

We have had any juicy spoilers (other than the House Bolton Blackguard and Eddard’s Honor Guard on the official Kickstarter) since our last update way back in November.

But thanks to Simon Swan over as the ASOIAF Miniature Game Facebook Page, that drought has come to an end!  Thanks Simon for the great pictures of the spoiled units at Adepticon 2018.

Close ups:

The catapult was on display at GenCon last year, so that is nothing new.  However, the dual wielding infantry screams Wildlings (or perhaps Night’s Watch).

These units are very juicy indeed and the general consensus is that these are a full unit of King’s Guard!

Large Site Update 1 of 2

Today, I updated the site with all changes to all units EXCEPT for the changes in updates 87, 88 and 89.  My plan is to do those three updates by tomorrow.  CMON didn’t do us any favors in the way they formatted the card releases this time around, but such is life.  Hope you enjoy the resource!

More features and updates to come!

Update 77 Live – Full Stats Done

CMON pushed update 77 on Friday.  Sorry for not getting this up sooner, but I was travelling over the weekend.  The site has now been updated to reflect all changes in update 77, which means it is (at least for now) complete with all units, attachments and NCUs.  Proxy away!

Team Bolton – My Initial Army Thoughts

I know its early, but I can’t help but mess around with list creation.  My goal is to create a fun, simple, and fast playing list to really learn the ins and outs of the game.  My current thoughts:

Team Bolton (40 points)

Roose Bolton (Lord of the Dreadfort) – Commander NCU
Petyr Baelish – NCU (4pts)

Bolton Cutthroats (5 pts)
Dreadfort Captain (1 pt)

Flayed Men (10 pts)
Flayed Men (10 pts)

The Bastard’s Girls (7 pts)
Ramsay Snow (Sadist) (3 pts)
Theon Greyjoy (Reek) (0 pts)

Petyr generally activates first each round, denying the opposition their best spots on the Tactics Board.  On the first round he will probably leech from Maneuver to get the early positional advantage.  Later, he will likely leech from the Crown (if Ramsay’s unit is engaged) or Merchant (to heal up Flayed Men).

Roose would typically activate later once its clear that someone is ready to be attacked.  He will typically just try to claim the best available slot.

Overall game plan on the battle field is to have the Flayed Men push deep into the enemy forces, spreading panic as much as possible, while the Bolton Cutthroats try to take an early objective behind them.  Ideally, the Flayed Men will get into combat with things that can’t really hurt them easily, like Lannister Guards, etc.

The Bastard’s Girls go on the hunt around the perimeter looking for any fast units trying to flank (like Stark Outriders) or Panicked units.  When they find a target, the goal is to line up Roose’s influence + Ranged Attack from Bastard Girls + Panic Test (with Ramsay special) + Charge Attack (allows rerolls) + Panic Test Again (with Ramsay special).  If everything goes right, the Bastard’s Girls should be able to cripple a unit before any counter attack and might be able to delete a unit from the table.

The theme is match attrition units to your 10 pt godstatline attrition units (Flayed Men), leveraging the Panicked condition as much as possible.  Use the cheap Cutthroats to secure objectives.  Finally, use your 10 point burst unit (Bastard’s girls) to try to intercept and burst down those that try to flank your Flayed Men or sneak an objective.

What do you think about this initial list?  What list do you think you will run?

Update 75 Live

Stark and Mercenary attachments are posted on the Kickstarter page.  I will have all units updated on the site in the next hour or so and will update this post when finished.  Fun!

Update: Both Stark and Merc updates all live on this site.  Enjoy!
